Character Descriptions

Paul Baumer: He is the main character of this story. He came into the war because he thought it was his duty but soon realized that it isn't what he thought. He loves his friends and is just hoping to finish the war.

Albert Kropp - He is one of Paul’s old classmates who serves with Paul. He is really smart and he is one of Paul’s closest friends in the war. He is very observant of the war and is always keeping an eye on whats happening which is a result of his intelligence.

Kantorek - He is Pauls old teacher. He is the one that told him to join the army and convinced him that it was his "duty".

Müller - He is also one of Paul’s old classmates. He is very stubborn and conscientious.

Tjaden - He is just another one of Paul’s friends that he met during the war. He is strong, small, and hates Himmelstoss more than anyone.
